Pumpkins are Evil

Okay, well maybe not evil, but definitely dangerous.  Well maybe not dangerous except when rendered in fabric.  And okay, not dangerous exactly, but maybe alluring.  Really alluring, especially in quilts.  Especially with fall being my favorite season.

As you might expect, I seriously love (covet) anything pumpkin-related.  So just when I thought it was safe to go back to the sewing room and get those UFOs in line, I stumbled across a beautiful BOM by Briar Rose Designs at my  local quilt shop (hey Deb!) called The Great Pumpkin quilt.  I couldn't resist .

While I love to do needle-turn applique, I've wanted to try invisible machine applique for a while and when I saw this quilt, I knew I'd found the perfect design to test the technique.  I'll be getting my first block today, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Of course in the flurry of enthusiasm, I also joined a mystery quilt by mail sponsored by a quilt guild buddy wintering in Florida and found an online mystery quilt that I have to do over at Quiltville's Quips and Snips.

The UFOs that had been huddling fearfully in the corner have now relaxed and started a bowling league; maybe when the bowling league ends in the spring, I'll get back to the UFO list!
